Shingle dimension

Length of the oak shakes: 300 to 450 mm following client choice

Width : from 60 to 140 mm in the same "set". These dimensions have been chosen to deliver the best original antic aspect to your roofing.

Oak shingle thickness (2 possibilities): Visible part (down on your wall or roof) from 20 to 25mm or from 10 to 12mm
Upper part: 5mm

How much should you need ? Shingles have to cover each other...
Multiply by 2 for wall cladding.
Multiply by 2,5 to 3 for roofing, depending on your local use, type of building and roof pitch

Do not forget losses and pattern you would like to built : from 10 to 15-20 %.
Most important to ensure durability is the air layer below your shingle roofing must be a minimu of 2cm thick.

Because you oak is going to last a very long time, you should use stainless nails.

You can recut & transform the shingles on site to meet your need of design...

Only a few month after fitting will your oak shingles turn color to their natural traditional grey colour... Colors may lightly change considering wall and roof orientation.

Oak wood is full of tannin... This will naturally protect your decking for years...
